Visas for Germany
GERMANY participates in the Schengen Visa program. The countries of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden have agreed to simplify the visa process by issuing one visa which allows for travel to all fifteen countries. It is required that the applicant apply to the country of main destination or the country where the applicant is staying the longest. If duration of stay is equal for all countries, the visa application is made through the country of first entry.
Please Note: Germany is very specific about requirements. AVS will not submit any documents until all requirements have been provided. This information is for non-US Passport holders.
Step 1: Have a Valid Passport
You must have a passport with at least 6 months of validity remaining and visa pages available for the visa stamp. If you need to obtain a United States Passport, renew a US Passport or add pages, we can help you with that - click "Get a US Passport" above.
Step 2: Complete Germany Application Online
All German visa applications for short stays (90 days or less) must be completed online. Follow the link at the end of this paragraph to begin the application. If you are asked for a language preference, check "english", read the following pages, click "continue" and then click "New Application." Fill in ALL the spaces.
Note: #5 should be left blank; #21 must be "Germany"; #23 must be "individual visa"; #32 should be the German city you are flying into; #33 should be "airplane"; #36 check those that apply and YOU MUST check "Health insurance" and provide the" valid until" date.
After completing the application choose "save and print" and then you will be directed to a new page which explains printing options. Print 2 copies of the application; sign and date both. Click the icon below to start the application:

Step 3: Assemble Documents
We will take your documents to the Consulate of Germany and once the visa has been issued, pick it up and ship it to you.
There may be occasions when the Consulate will want to see additional documentation; AVS will contact you as soon as we are notified of any problems. We cannot always predict what additional items the Consulate may need to see.
